NextEra Energy and Google Cloud are joining forces on a huge energy and technology partnership, including massive data center development plans.
Together, the two companies are planning to build multiple data center campuses across the U.S., adding gigawatts of capacity. They are at first focusing on three campuses, but are also actively identifying other sites and expansions.
NextEra Energy and Google already have an existing relationship when it comes to data centers and AI, with roughly 3.5 GW already in operation or contracted.
By working together, the pair hope to accelerate land development, load interconnection, and related power generation projects. This is something being seen across the board with tech companies today, who are increasingly more involved in energy infrastructure as it relates to data center development.
