Data center cryptomine firm Hut 8 has signed a $7 billion, 245 MW lease with AI cloud company Fluidstack, in a deal backed by Google.
The 15-year lease gives Fluidstack capacity at the River Bend data center campus in Louisiana. This agreement is part of a larger partnership between Hut 8, Fluidstack and AI company Anthropic.
The 3 companies have teamed up to “accelerate the deployment of hyperscale AI infrastructure in the United States.” Hut 8 will develop at least 245 MW and up to 2.295 GW of infrastructure for Anthropic, while clusters will be operated by Fluidstack.
The River Bend site may expand by an additional 1 GW, while Hut 8 and Anthropic may develop up to 1 GW of additional optional capacity together across Hut 8’s pipeline.
While Google is backstopping the deal, J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs are providing loan financing.
