In a deal worth almost $1 billion, Blackstone is acquiring the Hill Top Energy Center in Pennsylvania from Ardian.
The 620 MW natural gas plant is said to be one of the most efficient combined cycle gas turbine plants in the country, having recently finished construction in 2021.
This is just a part of Blackstone’s promise to invest over $25 billion in Pennsylvania’s AI economy, including both digital and energy infrastructure.
Blackstone has been focused heavily on AI infrastructure all across the country. They also recently invested in the 774 MW Potomac Energy Center in Virginia, and have been developing an additional 1,600 MW of new power generation over the past 3+ years.
This region is seeing plenty of power demand growth, largely from data centers. PJM is home to the world’s largest data center market in Virginia, in addition to 67 million people. More capacity is becoming more and more important by the day.
