Modular natural gas power generation units for Texas data center parks

Titus Low Carbon Ventures has made an agreement with AB Energy USA for 673 MW worth of natural gas infrastructure for upcoming Texas data center parks.

Through this deal, Gruppo AB – Energy Sustainability (AB’s operating arm) is planning to deliver 202 Ecomax 33 packaged reciprocating units powered by Jenbacher J620 engines. These modular units allow for rapid installs and, once in place, quicker system start up times.

The initial 400 MW will be commissioned by the end of 2027. The rest will come online by the middle of 2028.

Titus’ new data center parks will include behind-the-meter thermal generation, solar, wind, battery storage, and a high-voltage grid interconnection.

The goal here is both reducing costs and increasing reliability. According to them, this multi-tiered approach is predicted to lower costs by 70% compared to pulling energy from the grid alone.
